What’s a TMV and why is it important?

Thermostatic mixing valves (TMVs) blend hot and cold water to a safe temperature to prevent scalds. They also shut off rapidly in the event of a hot or cold water supply failure – preventing scalding or a thermal shock. They’re both a great safety feature and an energy-saving measure, as they can provide a constant water temperature. However, if they fail, you can all too easily end up with injuries.
