Six services

Plumbing and gas services in Allenstown

Six things, and the three at the top are what Allenstown rings us about most. Every one of them is done by a licensed plumber and gas fitter, and the site gets cleaned up before we leave.

Blocked drains and maintenance in Allenstown

Water coming back up through the plugholes, and the plunger has given up. Blocked dunnies, leaking taps, corroded pipework and water pressure that is either a dribble or a rumble. This is the bread and butter service call.

Emergency plumbing in Allenstown

Water is going everywhere and it is not stopping on its own. Our local emergency team is ready to respond promptly during all active business hours. Burst pipes, water leaks, blocked drains and suspected gas leaks.

Bathroom and kitchen renovations in Allenstown

Creating your dream bathroom, kitchen or laundry? The plumbing you cannot see is the part that ruins a renovation. We cover the water and the gas on the same job, so a kitchen with a gas cooktop takes one trade instead of two.

Hot water systems in Allenstown

You turn on the tap and wait for it to warm up. And wait. And wait. We install energy efficient hot water systems and troubleshoot the one you already have. Instantaneous gas, solar and heat pump, plus repairs on whatever is out there now.

Gas installation and gas fitting in Allenstown

Make sure you are (safely) cooking with gas. Gas is the licensed, higher risk work a handyman cannot legally touch. Hot water systems, stovetops and ovens are the speciality, domestic and commercial, including commercial kitchens.

Backflow and TMV testing in Allenstown

The test is annual, and the reminder never comes at a good time. Backflow valves stop contaminated water flowing back into the drinking supply. Thermostatic mixing valves blend hot and cold to a safe temperature so nobody gets scalded. Both need testing, and we test and repair on the spot.

Flowtek did a bathroom renovation for me. Great ideas and awesome quality but even a better chat.

What customers said about the work

Google reviews from across Yeppoon, Rockhampton and the Capricorn Coast, quoted exactly as they were written.

Jason from Flowtech Services was great to deal with. He responded quickly, arrived on time, completed the work to a high standard, and cleaned up the job site afterwards. I would recommend him to anyone needing reliable and professional service.

Lee-Ann Lovegrove Google review, February 2026

Jason responded quickly to our call and had someone arrive in 20 minutes to sort out our water pressure issue. Tradesman Brad was professional and efficient and had our problem solved in no time. Would most definitely call Flowtek Services again, thanks guys!

Amie Gleeson Google review, February 2026

What an absolute legend.my hot water system busted. He had it done after 1 day without it. 10/10 for communication, was the first to respond to my messages for help. Nothing was a drama. Jason was just a nice fellow that made us feel comfortable and got the job done. Decent price too. Thanks Jason.

Jennifer Shields Google review, September 2025

These are customers' own words about their own jobs, published on our Google Business Profile and quoted here exactly as they wrote them, misspellings of our name included. They describe what happened on those days. They are not a promise about how quickly we can get to you.

Allenstown questions we actually get asked

The stormwater has never worked properly since the floods. Is that connected?

Almost certainly. Floodwater carries fine silt into stormwater lines and gullies and leaves it there, and it can shift surrounds enough that a line loses the fall it was laid with. Rodding clears the silt and does not restore the grade, which is why it keeps coming back sooner each time. A camera will tell you which of the two you have.

What should I check on an old Allenstown house before the wet season?

Three things. That the gullies are clear and their surrounds are still sitting where they should, that the downpipes are actually connected to something and not just discharging at the base of the wall, and that the yard drainage still falls away from the house. Those three are cheap now and expensive in February.

No mystery

What happens when you ring

Four things, in order. You could check every one of them the next day.

  1. You ring or you text

Tell us the suburb and what is happening. A photo of the unit or the leak tells us more than a paragraph does.

  2. We work out what it needs

Sometimes that is a question or two on the phone. Sometimes it is obvious from the photo.

  3. We come and look

Nobody prices a job properly down a phone line, so we come and look before anyone talks about money.

  4. You get told what it involves

What the job is, what it takes and what happens if you leave it. Then it is your call.

Quicker than explaining it

Not sure what you're looking at?

Take a photo of it and text that instead. The plate on a hot water unit, the fitting that is dripping, the wet patch in the yard. It tells us the make, the age and usually the fault, which saves you describing it and saves us guessing.

Texts get read between jobs. If it's an emergency, ring instead.

Not on the list? Type it in and we will tell you straight whether we come out there.
The make and age of the unit, or where the water is coming from, saves us both a trip.

What we know about the pipes in Allenstown

Allenstown is old and it is low, and both of those matter. The housing is largely Queenslanders on stumps and post-war homes, so the pipework question is the same as Wandal: clay sewer with jointed lengths that roots find, and galvanised water lines that narrow before they leak. What sets Allenstown apart is the ground level. Sitting low and close to the Fitzroy means this is one of the parts of Rockhampton that flooding actually reaches, and the city has been through it more than once, most recently in 2011 and 2017. Water through a property leaves things behind that outlast the drying out: silt settled in stormwater lines and gullies, surrounds that have moved, and drainage that no longer falls the way it was laid. A drain here that has never been right since a flood year is usually not blocked in the ordinary sense, it is carrying a load of fine silt along a run that has lost its grade, and rodding it will keep working for shorter and shorter periods.

What goes wrong in Allenstown

Flood legacy in the drainage. Silt in stormwater lines and gullies, grade that has shifted, and old clay sewer that was already vulnerable before the water arrived.
