Jason responded quickly to our call and had someone arrive in 20 minutes to sort out our water pressure issue. Tradesman Brad was professional and efficient and had our problem solved in no time. Would most definitely call Flowtek Services again, thanks guys!

Blocked drains and general plumbing maintenance
Water coming back up through the plugholes, or worse, out of the toilet, and the plunger has given up. Blocked dunnies, leaking taps, corroded pipework and water pressure that is either a dribble or a rumble. This is the bread and butter service call.
- We turn up on time.
- We do the job well (and clean up afterwards).
- We talk to you (and have a laugh).
Try this before you ring us
A plunger shifts a good share of household blockages, and we would rather tell you that than charge you to find out. Get a proper seal over the outlet, keep some water in the fixture so the plunge actually moves water rather than air, and give it a solid dozen strokes.
If that does not shift it, or if it clears and comes straight back, stop. At that point you are looking at something further down the line, and continuing to force it can push the problem somewhere harder to reach.
What is usually actually wrong
A blockage that clears and stays clear was a blockage. A blockage that clears and comes back in six months, then five, then four, is a pipe problem wearing a blockage costume. In the older Rockhampton suburbs, Park Avenue, Berserker, Wandal and Allenstown, that is very often tree roots at the joints of a vitreous clay sewer line, and each clear buys less time than the last.
On the coast the pattern is different. In Taranganba and Lammermoor the ground slopes, and a long run that has lost its fall collects waste in the middle rather than at the gully. At Mulambin and Keppel Sands the ground is flat and near tidal water, so stormwater has very little fall to work with in the first place.
When a blockage keeps coming back, a camera down the line settles the argument. It tells you whether you are buying another clear, a reline or a replacement, and that is worth knowing before you spend more on rodding.
Leaks, and why they are worth catching early
Given enough time, water turns granite cliffs into sand. It will not have much trouble with your house. The leaks that cost the most are the ones nobody sees: a buried private water main on an acreage block at Adelaide Park or Farnborough, or a line under sandy ground at Kinka Beach where the water simply soaks away and never surfaces.
The test is the meter. Shut every tap, appliance, toilet and irrigation line off, then watch the dial for ten minutes. If it moves at all, water is going somewhere it should not. We locate the break before we dig, because trenching a full run on a guess is how a small job becomes a big one.
Corrosion and pressure
Salt in the air, minerals in bore water, or just the passage of time and water will all take pipework apart eventually, and each one does it differently. Salt attacks from the outside. Galvanised pipe corrodes from the inside, so it narrows before it leaks and the symptom is falling pressure and rusty water first thing, not a burst. Bore water at Cawarral scales up valves and hot water systems from the inside.
Low pressure is annoying. High pressure is expensive, because it shortens the life of every valve, seal and flexible hose in the house. Either way it is worth measuring at the meter and at the fixture before anyone buys new tap ware, because that tells you which side of the meter the problem is on.

What customers actually said
What an absolute legend.my hot water system busted. He had it done after 1 day without it. 10/10 for communication, was the first to respond to my messages for help. Nothing was a drama. Jason was just a nice fellow that made us feel comfortable and got the job done. Decent price too. Thanks Jason.
Flowtek did a bathroom renovation for me. Great ideas and awesome quality but even a better chat.

Blocked drains questions we get asked
The drain has been cleared three times and it keeps blocking. Why?
Because the blockage is a symptom, not the fault. When the interval between blockages gets shorter each time, the pipe itself is losing the fight, usually to tree roots at the joints of an old clay line or to a section that has lost its fall. Another clear will work, and it will work for less time than last time. A camera run will tell you which fix actually ends it.
Can you use a drain cleaner from the supermarket first?
We would rather you did not on a serious blockage. It rarely shifts a real obstruction, it sits in the line, and it makes the job unpleasant and more hazardous for whoever opens it up. A plunger first is the better advice, and then a phone call.
How do I know if I have a hidden leak?
Read your meter with everything in the house turned off, including the toilets and any irrigation. Wait ten minutes and read it again. If it has moved, you have a leak on your side of the meter. On an acreage block or on sandy ground that is often the only way you will ever find out, because the ground takes the water and nothing shows on the surface.
Do you do general maintenance, or only the big jobs?
Both. Leaking taps, washers, cisterns, a new vanity, replacing tap ware. If you have a few small things around the house, write the list before you ring. Doing them in one visit is far better value than three separate call-outs, and it is especially worth doing if you are somewhere like Keppel Sands or Bungundarra.

While we are there
We are licensed for water and for gas, so if something else is playing up while we are on site, say so on the form. It saves you a second call out.

Hot water systems
You turn on the tap and wait for it to warm up. And wait. And wait. We install energy efficient hot water systems and troubleshoot the one you already have. Instantaneous gas, solar and heat pump, plus repairs on whatever is out there now.

Bathroom and kitchen renovations
Creating your dream bathroom, kitchen or laundry? The plumbing you cannot see is the part that ruins a renovation. We cover the water and the gas on the same job, so a kitchen with a gas cooktop takes one trade instead of two.
Renovations
Gas installation and gas fitting
Make sure you are (safely) cooking with gas. Gas is the licensed, higher risk work a handyman cannot legally touch. Hot water systems, stovetops and ovens are the speciality, domestic and commercial, including commercial kitchens.
Gas fitting
Backflow and TMV testing
The test is annual, and the reminder never comes at a good time. Backflow valves stop contaminated water flowing back into the drinking supply. Thermostatic mixing valves blend hot and cold to a safe temperature so nobody gets scalded. Both need testing, and we test and repair on the spot.
