Six services

Plumbing and gas services in Taranganba

Six things, and the three at the top are what Taranganba rings us about most. Every one of them is done by a licensed plumber and gas fitter, and the site gets cleaned up before we leave.

Blocked drains and maintenance in Taranganba

Water coming back up through the plugholes, and the plunger has given up. Blocked dunnies, leaking taps, corroded pipework and water pressure that is either a dribble or a rumble. This is the bread and butter service call.

Bathroom and kitchen renovations in Taranganba

Creating your dream bathroom, kitchen or laundry? The plumbing you cannot see is the part that ruins a renovation. We cover the water and the gas on the same job, so a kitchen with a gas cooktop takes one trade instead of two.

Hot water systems in Taranganba

You turn on the tap and wait for it to warm up. And wait. And wait. We install energy efficient hot water systems and troubleshoot the one you already have. Instantaneous gas, solar and heat pump, plus repairs on whatever is out there now.

Gas installation and gas fitting in Taranganba

Make sure you are (safely) cooking with gas. Gas is the licensed, higher risk work a handyman cannot legally touch. Hot water systems, stovetops and ovens are the speciality, domestic and commercial, including commercial kitchens.

Backflow and TMV testing in Taranganba

The test is annual, and the reminder never comes at a good time. Backflow valves stop contaminated water flowing back into the drinking supply. Thermostatic mixing valves blend hot and cold to a safe temperature so nobody gets scalded. Both need testing, and we test and repair on the spot.

Flowtek did a bathroom renovation for me. Great ideas and awesome quality but even a better chat.

What customers said about the work

Google reviews from across Yeppoon, Rockhampton and the Capricorn Coast, quoted exactly as they were written.

Exemplary experience with FlowTek Services. From the owner Jason, who took my initial enquiry; he listened carefully to my concerns regarding the possible event of the house flooding from cyclone Koji. Although booked out that day, he sent someone (Brad) to investigate the situation. Both Jason and Brad were wonderful to deal with and talked me through what was needed to fix the situation. Jason followed up a few days later to arrange a quote and took his time to explain possible solutions. Communication, professionalism, and their knowledge of all things plumbing are qualities I appreciate. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Benita Hedley Google review, January 2026

Prompt, professional service, sourced and fitted new pump that afternoon and test ran to make sure there were no faults and it was working as it should. Great customer service and communication!

Kayla Morgan Google review, May 2026

Jason responded quickly to our call and had someone arrive in 20 minutes to sort out our water pressure issue. Tradesman Brad was professional and efficient and had our problem solved in no time. Would most definitely call Flowtek Services again, thanks guys!

Taranganba questions we actually get asked

Water pools against my house every time it rains. Is that a plumbing job?

Usually yes, and it is a common one in Taranganba because of the way the blocks were cut. If the ground falls towards the building and there is no stormwater line close enough to take the water, no amount of guttering will fix it. The answer is normally drainage pits placed where the water actually collects, piped away from the building. We have done that job in this suburb.

Our bathroom is original 1980s. What should we expect underneath?

On a house that age we usually find the waste and vent are serviceable but the tap ware and the mixer bodies are not, and the waterproofing under the old tiles has done its time. It is worth having us look before the tiler is booked, not after.

No mystery

What happens when you ring

Four things, in order. You could check every one of them the next day.

  1. You ring or you text

Tell us the suburb and what is happening. A photo of the unit or the leak tells us more than a paragraph does.

  2. We work out what it needs

Sometimes that is a question or two on the phone. Sometimes it is obvious from the photo.

  3. We come and look

Nobody prices a job properly down a phone line, so we come and look before anyone talks about money.

  4. You get told what it involves

What the job is, what it takes and what happens if you leave it. Then it is your call.

Quicker than explaining it

Not sure what you're looking at?

Take a photo of it and text that instead. The plate on a hot water unit, the fitting that is dripping, the wet patch in the yard. It tells us the make, the age and usually the fault, which saves you describing it and saves us guessing.

Texts get read between jobs. If it's an emergency, ring instead.

What we know about the pipes in Taranganba

Taranganba is mostly a 1980s and 1990s brick and tile subdivision, and it was cut into a slope. That is the single most useful thing to know about plumbing here. On a cut-and-fill block the finished ground level often falls back towards the house instead of away from it, and there is not always a stormwater line nearby to take the water once it gets there. We have fixed exactly that fault in Taranganba: ground sloping inwards towards a building with no adequate stormwater drainage in the area, which flooded the site during heavy rain. The fix was drainage pits placed to catch the surface water and redirect it away from the building, not a bigger downpipe. The other thing the age of the housing brings is timing. A 1985 house has now had its wet areas for forty years, so bathroom renovations and the pipework behind them are a steady part of what we do up here.

What goes wrong in Taranganba

Surface water. On a cut-and-fill block the ground can fall towards the slab, and in a Capricorn Coast downpour there is nowhere for it to go. It shows up as water pooling against the house, a soggy patch that never dries, or water under the slab edge.

Access and parking in Taranganba

Taranganba streets are wide and driveways are generally long, so access is easy. The slope is the thing to plan for: if a drainage job needs a machine, we need to know which side of the block it can get in from.

That figure is a distance, not a promise about the clock. Our local emergency team is ready to respond promptly during all active business hours. Ring us and we will tell you what we can actually do and when.
