Servicing Yeppoon, Rockhampton and the Capricorn Coast

Gas fitting and gas installation

Make sure you are (safely) cooking with gas. Gas is the licensed, higher risk work a handyman cannot legally touch. Hot water systems, stovetops and ovens are the speciality, domestic and commercial, including commercial kitchens.

  • We turn up on time.
  • We do the job well (and clean up afterwards).
  • We talk to you (and have a laugh).

Why gas is the one to be fussy about

Gas fitting is licensed work, and it is licensed for a reason. A handyman cannot legally touch it, and the consequences of a bad install are not a leak in a cupboard, they are a fire risk and a carbon monoxide risk. It is the most defensible line of work in plumbing precisely because there is no shortcut through it.

It is also our speciality. Hot water systems, stovetops and ovens, domestic and commercial, and it is the reason a kitchen with a gas cooktop takes one trade with us rather than two.

What gas actually means around here

Across most of the Capricorn Coast, gas means bottled LPG rather than reticulated natural gas. That changes the job. Bottle location matters, the regulator matters, and the run from the bottles to the appliance has to be sized and protected properly. On an acreage block at Tanby or Bungundarra that run can be a long one, and it is worth doing once.

In parts of Rockhampton natural gas is available, which is a different install again. Tell us which you have when you ring and we will know what we are looking at.

Cooktops, ovens and new gas points

Putting gas cooking into a house that has never had it is a normal job, not an exotic one. It needs a compliant bottle location, a regulator, the run to the appliance, and the appliance connected and tested. We leave you the paperwork, because you will want it if you ever sell the house.

Relocating an existing gas point during a renovation is the other common one, and it is the job that gets left off plans until the kitchen is being installed.

Commercial gas fitting

Commercial kitchens are their own discipline. Flexible connectors have to be restrained, appliances have to be able to move for cleaning without stressing the connection, and the whole installation has to be testable. We do commercial kitchen gas fitting across Rockhampton and the Capricorn Coast, and we do the compliance work that goes with it rather than leaving it for someone else.

Emma Power Google review, November 2025

These are customers' own words about their own jobs, published on our Google Business Profile and quoted here exactly as they wrote them, misspellings of our name included. They describe what happened on those days. They are not a promise about how quickly we can get to you.

Gas fitting questions we get asked

Can I install a gas cooktop myself?

No. Gas work is licensed in Queensland and connecting an appliance yourself is both illegal and genuinely dangerous. It will also void the appliance warranty and can cause a problem with your home insurance if anything goes wrong. Buy the cooktop by all means, then have it connected properly.

I can smell gas. What should I do right now?

Turn off any appliances, open the doors and windows to ventilate, and shut the gas off at the main valve. Then call us from outside the area. Do not use a light switch, an appliance or anything that could spark inside the room.

Is bottled LPG worse than natural gas for cooking?

Not for cooking, no. The main practical differences are that you have bottles to change and the appliance needs to be set up for LPG rather than natural gas, which is a jet and a regulator question. Plenty of the best kitchens on this coast run on bottles.

Will you give me a compliance certificate?

You get the paperwork for the gas work we do. Keep it, because it is the thing a buyer, an insurer or a landlord will ask for later.

Hot water systems

You turn on the tap and wait for it to warm up. And wait. And wait. We install energy efficient hot water systems and troubleshoot the one you already have. Instantaneous gas, solar and heat pump, plus repairs on whatever is out there now.

Blocked drains and maintenance

Water coming back up through the plugholes, and the plunger has given up. Blocked dunnies, leaking taps, corroded pipework and water pressure that is either a dribble or a rumble. This is the bread and butter service call.

Bathroom and kitchen renovations

Creating your dream bathroom, kitchen or laundry? The plumbing you cannot see is the part that ruins a renovation. We cover the water and the gas on the same job, so a kitchen with a gas cooktop takes one trade instead of two.

Backflow and TMV testing

The test is annual, and the reminder never comes at a good time. Backflow valves stop contaminated water flowing back into the drinking supply. Thermostatic mixing valves blend hot and cold to a safe temperature so nobody gets scalded. Both need testing, and we test and repair on the spot.
