Emu Park sits at the southern end of the Capricorn Coast, open to the south-easterly. We are a licensed plumber and gas fitter based in Yeppoon, covering the water and the gas from the one trade.
Emu Park faces into the prevailing south-easterly, and that one fact drives more plumbing here than anything else. The wind carries salt further inland than people expect, so it is not only the beachfront houses that suffer. Two or three streets back you will still find pitted outdoor tap ware, seized hose cocks and hot water unit casings that have rusted through while the tank inside is fine. The housing is a wide spread: original beach cottages around the Esplanade and the Singing Ship, a solid band of 1970s to 1990s brick, and newer estate growth pushing north towards Zilzie. I had a plumbing emergency where an underground pipe burst flooding my house. Jason from Flowtek plumbing services attended within 10 minutes and closed off the system. He diagnosed to problem, located the source of the leak through a heat detection instrument and came up with a transparent plan to fix.Jason and his team commenced a dig within the existing kitchen corner cupboard space, very awkward and through concrete where the pipe was located a deep (about 18 inches deep).The pipe was fixed in situ and back to working order. On the Emu Park coast the casing and the fittings usually go before the tank does, and the relief valve is the one that matters, because once it stops seating it will either weep constantly or fail to release when it should. If the relief valve is weeping, that is the warning, not the failure.
