Will you come out to Keppel Sands for a small job?

Yes. What we would rather not do is come twice, so we will ask more questions on the phone than we would for a Yeppoon address: what the make and model is, how old it is, and what it is actually doing. If you can send a photo, send it. That is what gets the right part in the ute the first time.

What we know about the pipes in Keppel Sands

Keppel Sands is the most isolated place we cover, and that shapes how we work here rather than what we find. There is one road in, it is the longest run on the coast from our Yeppoon base at around forty kilometres, and there is no plumbing supplier around the corner. So a Keppel Sands job gets planned properly before we leave: we want to know the make and the age of the unit, what the fitting looks like and what the fault is actually doing, so that the part comes with us the first time rather than on a second trip. Ringing us with a photo saves more here than anywhere else we go. The village itself is low-lying and sits beside tidal flats, which means high salt exposure and stormwater that has to work with very little fall. The housing is small in number and mixed in age, with a good share of older, modest homes and holiday places that are not lived in year round.

What goes wrong at Keppel Sands

Salt on everything outdoors, and drainage with almost no fall to work with. The bigger practical issue is parts: the fault is usually simple, the logistics are not.
