Cawarral questions we actually get asked

Our tap ware furs up and the hot water is losing capacity. Is that the bore?

Very likely. Bore water in this country can carry enough mineral to scale the inside of a storage hot water system and block aerators and shower roses. Replacing the fittings without dealing with the water just resets the clock. It is worth getting the water tested first, because the answer decides whether treatment is worth it.

Can you find a leak on a long line out to the troughs?

Yes. On a Cawarral property the tracing is most of the work, so we isolate section by section rather than digging on a guess. It is also the moment to put isolators in sensible places, so the next fault does not shut the whole property down.

What we know about the pipes in Cawarral

Cawarral is working land: small crops, grazing, sheds and machinery, spread along the road that connects Emu Park back to Rockhampton. The plumbing here is agricultural as much as domestic. Bores are common alongside rainwater tanks, and bore water brings its own problem that rainwater does not: mineral content. Hard or iron-rich water scales up the inside of a hot water system, blocks aerators and shower roses, and shortens the life of every valve it passes through. If a household has been fighting furry tap ware and a hot water system that is losing capacity, the water is usually the cause rather than the fittings. The other Cawarral feature is scale of pipework. A property here can have several hundred metres of line running to troughs, sheds and a second dwelling, and those runs get extended over decades.
