Not urgent

Something has stopped working properly

No hot water, a drain that is slow, a tap that will not stop. It can wait a day, but it is not going to fix itself.

Six services

Plumbing and gas services in Rockhampton

Six things, and the three at the top are what Rockhampton rings us about most. Every one of them is done by a licensed plumber and gas fitter, and the site gets cleaned up before we leave.

Blocked drains and maintenance in Rockhampton

Water coming back up through the plugholes, and the plunger has given up. Blocked dunnies, leaking taps, corroded pipework and water pressure that is either a dribble or a rumble. This is the bread and butter service call.

Hot water systems in Rockhampton

You turn on the tap and wait for it to warm up. And wait. And wait. We install energy efficient hot water systems and troubleshoot the one you already have. Instantaneous gas, solar and heat pump, plus repairs on whatever is out there now.

Backflow and TMV testing in Rockhampton

The test is annual, and the reminder never comes at a good time. Backflow valves stop contaminated water flowing back into the drinking supply. Thermostatic mixing valves blend hot and cold to a safe temperature so nobody gets scalded. Both need testing, and we test and repair on the spot.

Bathroom and kitchen renovations in Rockhampton

Creating your dream bathroom, kitchen or laundry? The plumbing you cannot see is the part that ruins a renovation. We cover the water and the gas on the same job, so a kitchen with a gas cooktop takes one trade instead of two.

Gas installation and gas fitting in Rockhampton

Make sure you are (safely) cooking with gas. Gas is the licensed, higher risk work a handyman cannot legally touch. Hot water systems, stovetops and ovens are the speciality, domestic and commercial, including commercial kitchens.

Emergency plumbing in Rockhampton

Have we worked in Rockhampton?

We work across Rockhampton from Yeppoon, but we are not going to put a made-up job or a borrowed photo on this page to prove it. If we have done work at your place in Rockhampton, a Google review helps your neighbours far more than anything we could write here.

Highly recommend Jason and the team from Flowtek Services! There was great communication from start to finish, they were able to promptly fit me into their schedule, charged a fair price and most importantly fixed a job another popular plumbing business couldn’t!! 10/10 guys thank you!!

These are customers' own words about their own jobs, published on our Google Business Profile and quoted here exactly as they wrote them, misspellings of our name included. They describe what happened on those days. They are not a promise about how quickly we can get to you.

Rockhampton questions we actually get asked

Do you actually come to Rockhampton, or is that just on the website?

We come. Rockhampton is about 43 km from our Yeppoon base and it is a named part of our service area, not an afterthought. What we will not do is pretend it is next door: for a Rockhampton job we ask more on the phone so we arrive with the right gear, and if you are booking something that is not urgent it is worth asking us what days we are already going to be in the city.

My commercial site needs backflow and TMV testing. What is involved?

We test the devices, and if we find a fault we repair it at the same visit rather than booking a second one. You get the report for your records. It is the one job in plumbing that runs on a calendar rather than on a breakdown, so it is worth setting a reminder rather than waiting for a notice.

Which Rockhampton suburbs do you cover?

The ones listed on this site have their own page, and each one says what the housing and the ground actually do there. If your suburb is not listed, ring us anyway and ask. We would rather tell you straight than have you guess.

No mystery

What happens when you ring

Four things, in order. You could check every one of them the next day.

  1. You ring or you text

Tell us the suburb and what is happening. A photo of the unit or the leak tells us more than a paragraph does.

  2. We work out what it needs

Sometimes that is a question or two on the phone. Sometimes it is obvious from the photo.

  3. We come and look

Nobody prices a job properly down a phone line, so we come and look before anyone talks about money.

  4. You get told what it involves

What the job is, what it takes and what happens if you leave it. Then it is your call.

Quicker than explaining it

Not sure what you're looking at?

Take a photo of it and text that instead. The plate on a hot water unit, the fitting that is dripping, the wet patch in the yard. It tells us the make, the age and usually the fault, which saves you describing it and saves us guessing.

Texts get read between jobs. If it's an emergency, ring instead.

Get a Rockhampton plumber out

Three fields we need, two that help. If it is urgent, ring instead, it is faster.

The quickest way for us to get back to you.
Not on the list? Type it in and we will tell you straight whether we come out there.
The make and age of the unit, or where the water is coming from, saves us both a trip.

What we know about the pipes in Rockhampton

Rockhampton is not one plumbing problem, it is four, and which one you have depends on which side of the river you are on and what decade your house went up. The old suburbs close to the river, Allenstown, Depot Hill, Wandal and the streets below The Range, carry pre-war and interwar housing with clay sewer, galvanised water lines and a flood history: the Fitzroy has been over parts of the city more than once, most recently in 2011 and 2017, and that leaves silt in stormwater and gullies long after the water goes. Up on The Range it is heritage Queenslanders with plumbing that predates most of what is in the standards now. Across the river to the north, Park Avenue and Berserker are post-war, so roots in clay and mixed under-house pipework. Then Norman Gardens and Parkhurst are new enough that nothing has failed yet. On top of all of it sits the heat. Rockhampton summers regularly run into the high thirties, which is harder on an outdoor hot water unit and an exposed west-facing run than anything the coast throws at it. Being the region's commercial centre, Rockhampton is also where the backflow prevention and thermostatic mixing valve testing work sits: pubs, clubs, cafes, commercial kitchens, medical rooms and body corporates all have devices that need testing on a cycle.

What Rockhampton gets called out for

It splits by suburb age. Old suburbs: roots in clay sewer and failing galvanised. Middle suburbs: pinholing copper and second-generation hot water. New suburbs: additions rather than repairs. Across the whole city: heat on outdoor hot water units, and compliance testing on commercial sites.

  • The riverFitzroy flooding has affected low-lying suburbs, notably 2011 and 2017
  • The heatHigh-thirties summers, hard on outdoor units and west wall runs
  • CommercialThe region's centre, so most of the backflow and TMV testing work sits here
